Engineering materials classification

Engineering materials encompasses various classes of materials, each of which may constitute a separate field. There are several ways to classify materials. They can be categorized according to their uses into three groups: ceramics, metals and polymers. The first type, ceramics, typically associated with the most brittle materials. They are known for their stiffness and stability under high temperatures, compression and electrical stress. They can be used in many engineering aplications for example in car electronic system,on electronic  plaques that we dont wont to have electricity. The next type, metals, used in many aplications beacause these type of materials are ideal for situations where high strength-to-weight ratios are required such as in the aerospace industry and certain automotive engineering applications. The next type ,polymers, are the raw materials  used to make what we commonly call plastics. We can use this type of material often in outshape of a product and in areas that we want to protect electronical components. There are many engineering materials and they can be used in different ways on engineering according to their uses and the product we want to produce.
